Emotions

It is common to disregard our emotions. This has become a generational tradition that many have passed down to their descendants.  Although emotions are not the end all be all, they are an incredibly important GUIDE showing us what is going on inside. It is customary for boys to be told not to cry and girls are allowed to cry. It’s also not wise to teach the young men you are raising to fall apart and cry each time they have a boo-boo; however maybe there could be a better balance to understanding how to approach an emotion. Boys turn into young men and then into strapping men who are protectors of the people they love. That can feel powerful and also burdensome if they don’t know how to manage their emotions and also open up to the loved ones they trust. Kids and adults need to know it is ok to feel those emotions, understanding that your emotions effect your behavior which effects your beliefs which creates your reality. Be sure you know which emotion is lurking underneath.
